Scholarships

Scholarships are awarded to academically strong students and can be continued into subsequent years provided the eligibility criteria are maintained. 

Merit scholarships (100% of tuition)

Merit scholarships are awarded to a number of outstanding high school students covering 100% of the recipient’s tuition and aiming to encourage and promote academic excellence.

  1. Eligibility requirements:
    1. Be a Lebanese citizen residing in Lebanon
    2. Be a student in Grade 12 Lebanese Baccalaureate or its equivalent
    3. Achieve excellent academic performance in high school and obtain high SAT scores
    4. Demonstrate extra-curricular involvement and leadership skills
       
  2. Application procedure:
    1. Fill the Merit scholarship application form and submit it to the Admissions Office
       
  3. Conditions to maintain the merit scholarship:
    1. Register on a full-time basis with a minimum of 15 credits per semester
    2. Register in the major that the scholarship is awarded for
    3. Maintain a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.2 at the end of the 1st semester, and 3.5 thereafter
    4. Must not withdraw from or repeat more than 6 credits during the undergraduate tenure at LAU
    5. Respect University and Financial Aid rules and regulations and sustain an exemplary behavior

Bacc scholarships (50% of tuition)  NEW!

Bacc Scholarships are awarded to newly admitted students covering 50% of the tuition fees based on their Lebanese or French official baccalaureate exam results.

  1. Eligibility requirements:
    1. Obtain excellent scores on the Lebanese or French official baccalaureate.
       
  2. Procedure:
    1. No application is required; the Bacc Scholarship is automatically awarded to qualified students who will receive a confirmation letter along with their offer of admission.
       
  3. Conditions to maintain the Bacc Scholarship:
    1. Register on a full-time basis with a minimum of 15 credits per semester.
    2. Maintain a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.5 at all times.
    3. Respect University and Financial Aid rules and regulations and sustain an exemplary behavior.
       
  4. Application deadline: N/A

SAT scholarships (50% of tuition) NEW!

SAT Scholarships are awarded to newly admitted students covering 50% of the tuition fees of year 1 of enrollment based on their SAT scores. This scholarship may be renewed in subsequent years in the form of Honor Scholarship based on their cumulative GPA.

  1. Eligibility requirements:
    1. Obtain a high SAT score.
  2. Procedure:
    1. No application is required; the SAT Scholarship is automatically awarded to qualified students who will receive a confirmation letter along with their offer of admission.
  3. Conditions to maintain the SAT Scholarship in the first:
    1. Register on a full-time basis with a minimum of 12 credits per semester
    2. Maintain a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.2 in the first semester
    3. Respect University and Financial Aid rules and regulations and sustain an exemplary behavior
       
  4. Application deadline: N/A

Entrance scholarships (10-50% 0f tuition)

Entrance Scholarships are awarded to newly admitted students in the fall semester of every year and cover from 10% to 50% of the tuition fees of year 1 of enrollment based on a  combination of their high school grades and SAT scores. This scholarship may be renewed in subsequent years in the form of Honor Scholarship if the student maintains a minimum Cumulative GPA of 3.5.

  1. Eligibility requirements:
    1. Achieve excellent academic performance in high school grades and obtain high SAT scores
       
  2. Procedure:
    1. No application is required; the Entrance Scholarship is automatically awarded to qualified students who will receive a confirmation letter along with their offer of admission
       
  3. Conditions to maintain the Entrance Scholarship:
    1. Register on a full-time basis with a minimum of 12 credits per semester
    2. Maintain a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.2 in the first semester
    3. Respect University and Financial Aid rules and regulations and sustain an exemplary behavior
       
  4. Application deadline: N/A

Honor scholarships (10-50% of tuition)

Honor scholarships are awarded to students with high academic standing upon completion of 24 credits at LAU (after 1st academic year).

  1. Eligibility requirements:
    1. Be enrolled at LAU in previous year(s)
    2. Successfully completed 24 credits at LAU
    3. Have a CGPA of 3.5 and above
       
  2. Procedure:
    1. No application required; the Honor Scholarship is automatically awarded to qualified students 
    2. The amount of the honor scholarship will be automatically calculated and will appear on the student’s statement of fees
       
  3. Conditions to maintain the Honor Scholarship:
    1. Register on a full-time basis with a minimum of 12 credits per semester
    2. Maintain a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.5
    3. Respect University and Financial Aid rules and regulations and sustain an exemplary behavior
       
  4. Application deadline: N/A
  5. Renewal of scholarship:
    1. The honor scholarship is granted as long as the CGPA of the student is above 3.5. It is granted in line with the below categories:

Athletic scholarship

Athletic scholarships are awarded to newly admitted students with recognized athletics skills.

  1. Eligibility requirements:
    1. Have an athletic award, prize or recognition
       
  2. Application procedure:
    1. Fill the Athletic scholarship application form and submit it to the Financial Aid and Scholarships Office
    2. Submit all supporting documents confirming skills in the specified athletics field
    3. The Athletic Scholarship selection committee will evaluate applications and selected candidates will receive a confirmation letter
       
  3. Conditions:
    1. Register on a full-time basis with a minimum of 12 credits per semester
    2. Maintain a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.0
    3. Respect University and Financial Aid rules and regulations and sustain an exemplary behavior
       
  4. Application deadline: April 30, 2017

  5. Renewal of scholarship:
    1. Renewal is on a semester by semester basis based on the student’s academic and athletic performance and discipline

CNRS scholarships

In collaboration with the National Council for Scientific Research (CNRS), LAU is offering full scholarships to the top 5 students in Lebanon with the highest scores in the official Lebanese Baccalaureate.

The National Council for Scientific Research (CNRS) is a public institution established in 1962 and assigned with the task of formulating national science and technology policy, initiating, guiding, supporting and conducting scientific research programs and activities in Lebanon.

  1. Eligibility requirements:
    1. To be among the top 5 in any of the 4 sections of the Lebanese Baccalaureate exam (General Science, Life Science, Economics/Sociology, or Humanities)
    2. To be a Lebanese citizen
       
  2. Procedure:
    1. No application is required. As a top student among the 5 highest scores in the Lebanese Baccalaureate, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education will pass your names to the CNRS and you will be notified and invited to an orientation session.
       
  3. Conditions to maintain the merit scholarship:
    1. Register on a full-time basis with a minimum of 15 credits per semester 
    2. Register in the major that the scholarship is awarded for 
    3. Maintain a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.2 at the end of the 1st semester, and 3.5 thereafter 
    4. Must not withdraw from or repeat more than 6 credits during the undergraduate tenure at LAU 
    5. Sustain exemplary behavior
